Description: Proviso 1.25 was amended this year to include all K-12 certified staff. The No Child Left Behind Act also requires data on 8th grade technology proficiency. To meet these needs, the Office of eLearning updated the teacher ePortfolio System to be aligned with the 2008 ISTE Standards. The system contains: a technology proficiency exam; Technology professional development courses and resources; Eportfolios; and an acceptance system for accountability

Description: The recent growth in high speed internet connectivity, the evolution of online learning, and state-mandated requirements for online learning experiences have contributed to the growth in online learning as a viable educational delivery method. This presentation made by educators with experience in the development and delivery of online courses will address many of the common reservations about online learning. Characteristics of effective online courses will set the theme. Other topics to be covered in the session include the creation of the standards for the development and implementation of online courses, the management of online courses, the development of training for the teachers to teach online, and the incorporation of interaction and engagement into online courses.
